“On Fire” is the sophomore single of Ragland’s 4th studio record “More Like a Melody”, following the bands’ 10 month hiatus after taking time as a band off of the road due to covid, adoption and “needing a breather”, as Autumn would say.
This track features Mike McClure (Mike McClure Band/The Great Divide) on lead guitar and background vocals. “On Fire” is track number 13 of the 20-track seasonal concept record “More Like a Melody” released by Ragland on Feb 14th, 2020. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Ada, OK at Boohatch Studios by Mike McClure, Autumn Ragland and Sam Cox. The recording process of this 4 part album took well over 3 and a half months to complete.
Autumn wrote this song towards the end 2019 and debuted it at the Texas Music Pickers Songwriting Contest and again at Larry Joe Taylor Songwriting Competition. Which she placed Top 5 out of over 120 contestants at both. 2019 was a VERY big year for Ragland. Prior to that year, Autumn and I toured for about 3 and a half years, broke as hell, sleeping on couches and played nearly 500 shows before our first major radio success with our song “Footsteps” followed by “Love, Liquor and a Place to Die”, both which went Top 40 on TRRR and many other charts. Love/Liquor managed to hit the iTunes Country charts, which was a big moment for us.
