Deejay Barry Kaye wants to meet every single KHLB listener. He already knows most of them by their first name.

“Hey, our friend Phil is driving to Kerrville right now,” I heard him say one morning as I listened to 102.5 FM. “Phil, here’s a song for you... turn up your radio!”

I had to smile. He remembered a comment I had made during our interview, and used it to personalize his show the next morning. I heard him do it over and over as he dropped the names of listeners within hearing distance of the 50,000-watt radio station perched just off the square in tiny Mason, Texas.

Barry decided to come to KHLB FM, Mason to get away from 6 million Houstonians all living in cars and get back to real radio run by real radio people

Barry Kilgore hosts the afternoon show  from 3-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Barry Kilgore, a 6th generation Texan; Kilgore Texas named for his family(sold all that land before oil was discovered… darn); Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology; Graduate & Post Graduate work @ Stephen F. Austin & University of Houston pursuing a Master of Science Degree

Barry decided to follow his lifelong dream of radio and a more than 40 year career ensued, including stations: KRBE AM/FM; KQUE FM; KNUZ AM; KTRH AM; KSEV AM; KNTH AM; Metro Networks (all in Houston);  KOKE FM; KHFI FM (in Austin)
